Osun monarch, HRM, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu l, the Oluwo of Iwo land, in an exclusive interview with U&I Evergreen Online TV, said Yoruba kings are divided.
The monarch while speaking, said “it’s only the kings that can speak for the Yoruba race not the politicians or any political association, but unfortunately, we are divided.”
“It’s only in yoruba race that their kings are not one. If the heads are not good, the politicians are not the head neither Professors nor Afenifere, then what can other parts of the body do?”
According to the monarch, he said, it’s only the kings that can speak on behalf of yoruba race not politicians or political groups. “We can see how united the northern emirs are, they speak in one voice.”
“It’s very important and necessary that we have a Yoruba council of Oba if we must move forward as a race. Imagine if we have the likes of Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Alake of Egba, Akinolu of Lagos, Awujale, Owa of Ijesha land, Orangun, Ewi of Ado, and many other powerful kings in yoruba land coming together to form a formidable force, who dare to challenge or rubbish such force?”
Recall the monarch has made the clarion call during the visit of Alaafin of Oyo to his palace some weeks ago, he told Alaafin that he should go and set up a Yoruba council of Obas which will serve as the only umbrella that will bring all yoruba kings together.
