He realized that people ignore old phones when new ones hit the market and with time, they may no longer be able to find the old models. He then decided to start a phone collection to enable the future generations to get a physical view of the old phones just as it is in museums.
He bought some of the phones himself while others are the ones discarded by their previous owners. He was so determined about his goal that when some buyers came to approach him, he refused to sell the phones to them.
Sahabettin was able to gather up to 1700 phones for twenty years. Unfortunately, some burglars broke into his house one day and stole 700 of his phones leaving him with approximately 1000 phones. According to him, all the phones are in good condition with their batteries intact. He must have really been very hardworking in maintaining these phones because he has to service them regularly.

Sometimes I have a hard time keeping up with their maintenance. God willing, another collector will look after them when I am gone and carry them to the generations after.”
