The Lagos East Senatorial Bye-Election coming up on October 31 2020 took top gear, As the Women Affairs committee of Tokunbo Abiru Campaign Team, TACT, of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), on Sunday morning at Tokunbo Abiru Campaign office in Ikorodu, began its array of Rallies ahead of the bye-election, to alvanize support for their Lagos East Senatorial candidate, Mr Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru.
Groups of women, men, and residents of Ikorodu, in their large numbers staged a mass rally in support of their candidate.
The women who stormed the major roads of Ikorodu, were seen carrying various placards with inscriptions such as “Vote for Abiru, Abiru is TACTically ready, Omo wa ni,” among others.
They were seen marching down from Ebute road down to Ita-Elewa, then to constituency of the majority leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon SOB Agunbiade, through Ireshe and Ota-Ona roads, Ikorodu, singing solidarity songs in support Mr Tokunbo Abiru.
The large turnout of supporters mainly from the ruling APC and other well wishers at the hometown of Abiru, left no one in doubt about the immense popularity of the APC candidate.
The former Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture and member Lagos Seventh Assembly, Hon Adebimpe Akinsola, assured that the APC will not just win on the 31st of October, but they are going to win with landslides.
“We are going to speak with our votes and we are going to tell Nigerians that Lagos, we are ready,” Hon. Akinsola said.
Equally, the DG of Women Affairs of Tokunbo Abiru Campaign Team and APC Women leader of Lagos East Senatorial District, Yeye Fausat Gbadebo, urged people to come out enmas on the 31st of October and cast their votes for APC.
“Our votes in Ikorodu must truly reflect the acceptability of Tokunbo Abiru as an indigene of Ikorodu. He has the capacity to represent us in the Lagos East Senatorial,” Mrs Gbadebo revealed.
The Vice Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Vice Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Mrs Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba and Comrade Kehinde Okeowo, also wooed the electorates to vote Abiru in the coming bye-election in October 31.
While addressing the mamouth crowd, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, at his constituency Office, enjoined the party stalwarts to work day and night for the victory of the Party, noting that they are not going to leave any stone unturned to ensure victory for Tokunbo Abiru on the 31st of October.
“The party is not considering less than a resounding victory in the poll that is less than 5 weeks away,” Agunbiade said.
