360 Views Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II The Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II, has commiserated with victims and families of unarmed protesters who lost their lives during the #EndSARS protest at the Lekki toll Plaza in Lagos State and other parts of Nigeria. Lekki came under attack on Tuesday night October 20, 2020 when some armed men in military camouflage shot at defiant protesters who converged on Lekki toll Plaza, hours after the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu imposed a 24 hours curfew on the State, causing global outrage. He also commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for their timely intervention in the #EndSARS protest that has led to the destruction of property and death of some innocent Nigerian youth across the Country. Oba Ewuare II gave the commendation when he received the Minister of State for Budget and Planning, Clement Agba in his palace, Wednesday in Benin City. The traditional ruler said his intervention has doused the heightened tensions and thereby restoring peace and calmness to the country again. Ewuare II said that the President has heard their demands adding he would act on them accordingly just as he appealed that they should give him some time to act on them. He said that the youths have no other country they can call their own appealing it should not be destroyed by their own actions and urged them to give peace a chance.
