EFFECTIVE SERVICE DELIVERY: MINISTRY OF POLICE AFFAIRS INAUGURATE TEAM TO MONITOR IMPLEMENTATION
The Ministry of Police Affairs has inaugurated members of the Ministry’s Delivery Task Team to steer and facilitate the provision of first-hand information on the implementation status of the various policies, programmes, and policies being implemented by the Ministry in line with the present administration’s 9 -priority areas.
The inauguration/workshop was declared open by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Temitope Fashedemi at the Minister’s conference room at the headquarters of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Abuja, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report.
In his address read by the Director, (Finance and Accounts), Mr. Aondoakaa Emmanuel stated that members of the Technical Team were carefully drawn across key agencies and departments noting that the process of monitoring, assessing, and reporting the implementation of priorities and deliverables of the Ministerial mandates would be done with high sense of credibility.
The Permanent Secretary pointed out that the workshop will provide a window for informed knowledge on the performance of Ministerial deliverables. Appraise the result framework, discuss critical indicators, and set targets to guide implementation in order to deliver on the 9 priority areas.
In his words, “a major objective of the workshop is to further engage and cross-fertilize ideas about our critical roles in producing a commendable output which will serve as input in the overall Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) Report to the Federal Executive Council”.
The Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, Bolaji O. Kazeem in a press statement made available to NAOSNP quoted Mr. Fashedemi saying, “the Ministry expects you to put in all efforts at your disposal to ensure that Nigeria’s leadership position, especially in the area of socio-political and economic advancement is sustained”.
In his welcome address, the Director (Planning Research and Statistics), Mrs. Margaret Azeez stated that it was a demonstration of their collective desire to be part of the renewed commitment by the OSGF/CDCU to building an efficient, effective, and productive delivery managers and Ministry’s Desk Officers. According to her, it is noteworthy to reiterate that as major players in the facilitation, implementation, and reporting processes, we are expected to reflect on what extent government policies have impacted the lives of the citizens”.
During the technical session, the Federal Reform Facilitator, Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office- Partnership, Mrs. Chioma Itodo stated that the key mandates of the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU) under the Cabinet Affairs Office (CAO) in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) is to track the implementation of Policies, Programmes, and Projects of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) along the 9 Priority Areas of the Federal Government.
She opined that Delivery Unit has a small group of dedicated, highly skilled individuals trained in the delivery tools and techniques, and are focused on tracking progress against a select number of top priorities through collecting, analyzing, and routinely reporting on a constant stream of performance data.
In his contribution, Mr. Folarin Akinsanmi (OSGF/CDCU) stated that government has automated the collection of performance-based reports based on agreed KPIs and other reporting templates in a more efficient and effective manner.
Adding that the data are from four (4) different sources such as MDA Reporting, Spot Checks/Validation, Contractor Reporting, and Citizen Reporting which he stated is a key game changer in the process of validation of MDAs achievements.
